After registering your MultiScan, the next step is to install and set up the ZF Interface Utility - enabling the VCI Box to connect with your OE software.

  • Only the VCI Box is required for ZF Interface Utility and J2534 connections.
  • The ZF MultiScan tablet is not needed to access ZF Interface Utility connections.
  • Ensure the VCI Box is connected to your OE computer before proceeding.

Download file, then double-click the unzipped file to start installation.

Important Note: If Windows displays a security message for an unrecognized app:

Click More Info on the left.

Select Run Away to proceed.

  • View ZF Interface Utility & J2534 Options:
    • A list of available ZF Interface Utility and J2534 pass-thru options will appear.
  • Select Manufacturer:
    • Choose the vehicle manufacturer to install the required VCI driver for your OE software.

Important Note: To connect using a different manufacturer on the same PC, re-run the ZF Interface Utility and repeat the Installation process for that manufacturer.

  • Click Next to proceed.

  • Select Installation Folder:
    • Choose the default location (e.g., C:Program Files ZF Interface Utility) or click Browse to select a different folder.
      • Ensure at least 100.5MB of free disk space is available.
    • Click Next to proceed.

  • Shortcut Creation:
    • Confirm the default Start Menu folder or click Browse to select a custom folder.
    • Click Next to continue.

  • Setup Options:
    • Choose additional setup tasks:
      • Create a Desktop Shortcut.
      • Run on Startup.
    • Check or uncheck boxes as desired and click Next.

  • Confirm and Install:
    • Review settings and click Install to begin.
  • Progress and Prompts:
    • If the ZF Interface Utility is already open, the installer will prompt you to close it automatically. Click Next to proceed.

  • Install WinPcap:
    • A separate wizard for WinPcap will launch.
    • Click Next, accept the User Agreement, and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

  • Setup Wizard:
    • Once installation is complete, click Finish.
    • Launch the ZF Interface Utility from the shortcuts created during setup.

  • Agree to License Terms:
    • Launch the ZF Interface Utility and accept the license agreement.
  • VCI Driver Selection:
    • Select and install the appropriate VCI driver for your OE software. Follow on-screen prompts to complete.
  • Ensure Connection:
    • Confirm the VCI interface box is properly connected to your OE computer.
  • Update Process:
    • Check that your computer is connected to the internet.
    • Unplug and reconnect the VCI box or press its Reset button.
    • Wait for the VCI to beep three times.
    • Press Confirm in the utility and re-run the update function.
